Multiple model and observational datasets were used, and they were regridded to the appropriate HEALPix resolution as needed. This regridding allowed for quantitative comparisons of precipitation between the datasets at different spatial resolutions. This framework was tested on the E3SM LR and E3SM NARRM model runs, as well as the GPM IMERG observations, which have significantly different spatial resolutions. The remapping onto the HEALPix pixels was necessary to compare the three datasets.
